Materials
Woods & Steel
Hardwoods
Black walnut, maple, jatoba, African mahogany and alder. Mix and match species to create the grain and color you want.
Custom welded steel bases
Every table sits on a custom welded steel base, designed to suit the table and your space.
Finished by hand
Boards are sanded through 320 grit, then finished with food-grade mineral oil and food-grade cutting board wax. Tables get durable oil finishes.
Craft
Why end grain?
Gentle on knives
Knife edges slip between the wood fibers instead of cutting across them, so blades stay sharper longer.
Built to last
Hardwoods are sustainably sourced, milled in my own shop, glued with food-safe adhesive and finished with food-safe oil.
One of a kind
Each pattern is laid out by hand, so no two boards are identical.

About
Meet the Maker
Whidbey Island Woodworks is my shop. I grew up woodworking as a hobby and never stopped. Today I mill my own lumber, source wood locally and from across the West Coast, and focus on sustainable and recycled sources. I love turning creative ideas into pieces that look beautiful in your home. Every board and table is made by hand, one at a time.
Whidbey Island sits in the Salish Sea of western Washington, part of the Pacific Northwest. Coast Salish peoples lived on these waters long before European explorers arrived. Captain George Vancouver named the island in 1792 for Lieutenant Joseph Whidbey, who explored and mapped it. Coupeville, on Penn Cove, is one of Washington's oldest towns, and the nearby Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve preserves its historic farms and buildings.
North of here, the San Juan Islands are a chain of more than 170 named islands. The region's forests of Douglas fir, cedar and maple have shaped its woodworking traditions for generations.
